Released digitally on April 20, 2023, "Dreams" marked Tan Jian Ci's official debut as a solo recording artist. Built around the theme of dreams, the album presents a musical journey in which each song explores different emotions and states of mind, reflecting the artist's personal experiences and creative growth throughout his seventeen-year musical career. Blending contemporary pop, modern R&B, electronic music, dance, and ballads, the album established a distinctive musical identity while reaffirming music as one of the central pillars of his artistic career.

The album was released digitally on April 20, 2023, through QQ Music and Apple Music, becoming Tan Jian Ci's first solo album to be officially available to international audiences. On October 23, 2023, pre-orders opened for a special collector's physical edition, offering fans an exclusive release several months after the digital debut.

With "Dreams", Tan Jian Ci laid the foundation for his career as a solo artist. Built around a cohesive concept, the album explores the relationship between dreams and reality while highlighting his versatility as both a vocalist and performer. The project marked his definitive return to music, becoming one of China's best-selling digital albums of 2023 and earning multiple sales certifications and industry recognitions.

Before the album's official release, two songs were introduced as promotional singles. "IMMA GET IT" made its public debut during the Hunan TV New Year's Eve Gala celebrating the arrival of 2023 and was later released digitally as the album's lead single. It was followed by 《路过，人间烟火》 /"Passing By, the Fireworks of the World", released on February 1, 2023. The complete album, featuring nine original songs and their instrumental versions, was officially released on April 20, 2023.
